Product Overview
The textured dial of this timepiece is inspired by the Snowscape of Mount Iwate, when snow melts at the end of Winter and Spring approaches, natural seasonal changes near to Shizukuishi Watch Studio where Grand Seiko mechanical timepieces are made.
‘The Nature of Time’ theme features prominently in Grand Seiko designs – a Japanese spirituality where each moment is a unique expression unveiled through light and shadow.
This timepiece marks the anniversary of the ‘Grand Seiko Style;’ the framework for Grand Seiko designs balancing legibility and light with a beautiful dial layout first established with the 44GS model in 1967.
This hi-beat watch is powered by the revolutionary Grand Seiko in-house Calibre 9SA5, with a power reserve of 80 hours due to its enhanced energy efficiency, incorporating three significant watchmaking developments: the entirely new Dual Impulse Escapement, the Free-sprung balance and the horizontal Gear train.
The case, crown and bracelet are all made from Seiko Watch Corporation’s exclusive ‘Ever-Brilliant Steel’* – with its brilliant white hue, this grade of steel is highly corrosion-resistant and often found in marine structures.**
Grand Seiko: beautifully precise Japanese watchmaking, handcrafted by Takumi artisans.
*A material used extensively in marine structures due to its extreme corrosion resistance – its PREN value is 1.7 times higher than the steel in most high-end watches. PREN is a widely accepted standard used to measure corrosion resistance.
