  • The Conquest V.H.P. by Longines offers new sporty models

The Conquest V.H.P. represents a new achievement in the field of quartz, combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance. In the true essence of Conquest – the ultimate sports line – the brand now proposes chronographs that bring together all of the qualities of the Conquest V.H.P. movement.

Longines’ history with quartz has been one full of technical innovations and feats. In 1954, the first quartz watch set a precision record at the Neuchâtel Observatory. It would be fitted into the legendary Chronocinégines, an instrument that became a pioneer in the history of timekeeping, as it provided judges with a film strip composed of a series of prints, allowing them to follow the athletes’ movement as they crossed the finish line. In 1969, technological mastery led Longines to reveal the Ultra-Quartz, the first quartz movement designed for wristwatches. A huge stride was made in 1984 with the quartz calibre fitted in the first Conquest V.H.P., setting a precision record for that time.

As an extension of these historic milestones, the winged hourglass brand presents its new Conquest V.H.P., now also available with a chronograph calibre in various chromatic variations. The movement developed exclusively for Longines stands out for its high degree of precision for an analog watch (±5 s/yr) and its ability to reset its hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field, using the GPD (Gear Position Detection) system. These attractive features are likely responsible for its status as an exceptional movement, to which a very long battery life and a perpetual calendar must be added.

These steel or black PVD models are available in two sizes (42 and 44 mm in diameter) and display hours, minutes and seconds, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock and a 60-second counter in the centre. On each model, manipulations are simplified thanks to the intelligent crown, while two distinct indicators preventively signal the end of battery life. Conquest V.H.P. chronographs boast blue, carbon fibre, silvered or black dials. A steel, or blue or black rubber watch strap completes these exceptional timepieces.

Based in Saint-Imier, Switzerland since 1832, Longines watchmakers enjoy an expertise steeped in tradition, elegance and performance. With generations of experience as the official timekeeper for world championships, and as a partner of international sports federations, Longines has created strong and long-lasting relationships in the world of sports, over the years. Known for the elegance of its timepieces, Longines is a member of Swatch Group Ltd., the world’s leading watchmaker. The Longines brand, with its winged hourglass emblem, is established in over 150 countries.

  • A special numbered edition is launched in the Middle East to celebrate Longines’ 185th anniversay

Founded in Saint-Imier in 1832, the Swiss watch brand Longines celebrates its 185th anniversary this year. As a celebration and a tribute to its customers in the Middle East, Longines is launching a very special edition numbered and limited to 185 pieces. Based on a Heritage honey-coloured model re-edition of a timepiece from 1918, this watch displays Arabic numerals such as those used in the Middle East.

As a tribute to its long watchmaking tradition, the Swiss brand Longines loves to reissue some of the iconic pieces that have enhanced its profile throughout its existence. This 1918 model draws its inspiration from the rich history of the brand with the winged hourglass and echoes the first bracelet-chronographs created by Longines. As with the latter, this timepiece features a dial also found on pocket watches from this period, but with Arabic numerals instead of the European ones found in the original model. Its vintage aesthetic and refined fabrication will entice admirers of fine watchmaking.

Blued steel and honey-coloured varnish impart character to hands that stand out on a white-lacquered polished dial, which mark the hours and minutes on this reissued model. The small

second hand at 6 o’clock adds dimension and contrast to the dial with its Longines’ blue colour. The honey colour can also be found on the large Arabic numerals painted on the dial, providing this emblematic early 20th century timepiece with a remarkably successful balance.

This refined model is limited to 185 pieces and each model is numbered on the caseback. Measuring 41 mm, it houses an L615 automatic winding mechanical calibre. To complete the set, a honey-coloured alligator strap echoes the dominant colour of the dial harmoniously.
